Live athlete tracking through the iResults connector

There is a feature in iResults that has been there for a while but we haven't really been taking advantage of it - until now. Runners, as well as their friends and family, can now sign up to receive emails and/or text messages when specific individuals they want to follow cross the finish line - or even splits if we are doing those. The "Athlete Tracking" button will appear prior to the race on iResultslive.com, as well as in the results section of gsrs.com. We are now advertising this service on the front of our website (along with a whole list of our other services, all described on individual web pages - check it out!)  However in order for this to work we all need to start doing a few things differently, as follows:

  1. An athlete obviously can't be tracked unless their name and info is uploaded to iResultslive. So as soon as you have the pre-race database, open up your iResults connector program, connect to Runscore (obviously with the race open in Runscore) and then click the Upload button. This is all you should need to do, but you can go into the race on iResultslive.com to check to see if there are runners there. (Search for number 1 and if there are runners it will display every one beginning with 1)
  2. When you get to the race and open up Runscore to your race, also open up your iResults connector, connect to Runscore, and click on Upload. This will ensure that race day registrants get uploaded to the system as soon as possible in case someone wants to track them.
  3. Info on tracked athletes will not be sent out unless you also have the "Send Results" button checked in the iResults connector. As always, we don't want to automatically check this box until we are comfortble that the results are in good shape. We don't want emails or texts going out that have wildly inaccurate results. Make sure that you've checked the sheets listing the top male and female finishers. Once you know that your top twenty or so of each are looking good it's safe to check "Send Results."
  4. Whenever you make a change in your results in Runscore, such as an age, or spelling, or deleted or DQed someone from the results, be sure to click the Reload button so that it fixes the iResults too. This won't fix any bad data that went out by email or text, but at least the results on iResultslive.com and gsrs.com will be correct.
  5. Even if no one is being tracked it's important to get results at all of our races online as soon as possible. Live results on our website is another new service that we are adding.
